Join the JCSO as we present “Baroque & Classical Favorites!” on February 16, 2013 at 8:00 pm. This exceptional night of music features selections from Mozart and C.P.E. Bach performed by our outstanding musicians under the direction of Maestro J. Wayne Baughman and spotlights a Young People’s Performance by the violin students of NATE – North Atlanta Talent Education. These extremely talented young musicians will be performing the Vivaldi Concerto in A Minor, conducted by Maestro Baughman and accompanied by the JCSO! This will be quite an exciting opportunity for these students who range in age from seven to eighteen years of age. They study under the direction of Tricia Anderson, Tracy Shealy and Rachel Bachmeier, and several of these students study with the JCSO Concertmaster Adelaide Federici and violinist Kim Barnes. NATE is located in Roswell, Georgia, but draws students from all over the North Fulton area. Founded in 2001, North Atlanta Talent Education is a Suzuki Method program that offers lessons in violin, viola, cello, and piano. The program began with just a handful of students and has grown to well over 100 students today. Each student receives instruction in an individual (weekly) and group (bi-weekly) setting.
This is the first time the JCSO has invited young students to perform as guest soloists and is delighted at the opportunity to feature these aspiring musicians in a professional setting. The night features repertoire from the baroque and classical periods of music written by composers some who, in their youth, proved to be musical masters. How fitting that we can feature the performance of those who just might aspire to be the same.
One other aspect of this special evening is the JCSO’s recognition of our state, local and regional civic and government leaders who have embraced the arts. Their support of local arts entities contributes to the quality of life in our communities. Serving our citizens by ensuring access to area programs demonstrates their commitment to making the arts a priority in this region . We wish to say thank you.
