The concert will celebrate Maestro J. Wayne Baughman’s impact on Johns Creek and will highlight the greatest moments in JCSO history.
Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra’s 2023-2024 season will come to a close with the highly anticipated finale concert “Celebrating the Maestro” on Saturday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Johns Creek United Methodist Church, 11180 Medlock Bridge Road Johns Creek, GA 30097. This concert will be conducted by John Morrison and will feature Maestro Baughman’s two daughters, Katie Edelman (soprano) and Adelaide Federici (violin). Tickets for the concert range from $20-$50 and are available for purchase online at johnscreeksymphony.org or via phone at 678.748.5802. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door. This concert is sponsored by Emory Johns Creek Hospital.
The 2023-2024 season, titled “Unleashing the Power of Symphony,” was to be Maestro Baughman’s final season with the JCSO before his retirement; however, Maestro Baughman passed away at the beginning of the season. The music selections in the season finale were chosen by Maestro Baughman, as he felt they collectively embodied the spirit of the past 17 years and the end of his tenure. Some featured works are Meditation from Thaïs by Massenet, “The Light in the Piazza,” selections from West Side Story, and more.
“This will be the most important season finale we’ve ever had, and we are proud to be joined by Maestro Baughman’s daughters to help us celebrate his legacy,” said Linda Brill, Executive Director of the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra. “We hope everyone in the community will join us for this concert, as we highlight the major milestones of JCSO’s first 17 years and look ahead to what the future holds for the JCSO,” she added.
